Ganeshothsava - 2008 @ Balamuri Siddi Vinayaka Temple, Sahakaranagar, Bangalore

" Its a nice feel after the completion of Ganesha festival and procession for which we (Myself, Hemanth, Prapulla, Satish, Ravi, Das, Shreyas, Pradeep, Sudakar, Niranjan, Jayashima and Many more) strived for weeks together.I recollect the moments when we celebrated our first Ganeshothsava way back Sept-1994. We were all young lads of age around 10 yrs+ collected 2,5 or 10 bucks from elders in our neighborhood and kept Ganesha idol in my house Garage. Fourteen years have gone, but the enthu has been ever increasing. Every year we have a new theme, with new concept for decoration at the Ganesha chaturthi. From first year to seventh year, our theme and decoration was limited to some nice backdrop cloths or bedspreads taken from close people (Known residents of Sahakaranagar) and we used to decorate it with color papers, fancy items etc. But from 8th year celebrations, our maturity levels had changed and we became more creative in thinking, organizing and executing.
8th year, Ganesha in Himalayas where sadhus were performing homas and yagnas.
9th year, Brahmanda Ganesha with Shiva Parvati and other gods participating in Ganesha chaturti.
10th year, Ganesha inside pearl oyster, backdrop was sea, sky and land (with a special bird).
11th year, Ganesha as warrior with bow and arrow ,with all weapons backdrop and Lightning effect with florescent blue an electricying effect.
12th year, Ganesha as Krishna in Gokulanandana, sitting under a tree playing flute and all the cattle listening to the music, fresh lawn grass from lalbagh was bought and was used as flooring. Beautiful background of green landscape was painted as a backdrop.
13th year, Ganesha in Udupi Krishna Avatara, where the wall breaks and god turns to give darshana to Kanakadasa who is the devotee of lord Krishna.

This year i.e 14th year it was "Bhagvadgeetha" theme i.e. about one of the greatest epics of Hinduism.
The Ganesha pratistapane happened under the presence of our elders and few other local personalities on 03 rd Wednesday September 2008 at 11:15 p.m in Balmuri Ganesha Temple premises,Shakaranagar. Myself and Hemanth were late as we were working from morning 5:30 a.m. for arranging flowers, other necessary things. Prapulla, Satish, Ravi, Nithin and many more managed things like fixing the audio, decoration etc during pratistapane. Everything went good and we had some photo sessions.

There was a stage arranged in Temple premises for talented people of our neighbourhood. On the day 2 04/09/2008, we had Bhaktigeete and devaranama sung by "Upasana Kalasanga". We had not made proper arrangement, yet the team co operated and gave good programmes followed by memento distribution by Y.N.Srinivas uncle. On the Day 3 05/09/2008, we had Bharathanaatya from "Natyaraadhana". The team consisted of two teachers and lot of kids. They did wonderful performance and crowd was full. Ranganayakalu uncle distributed momentous for the Naatyaradana teachers. On Day 3 06/09/2008 Saturday, Karanatik Sangeetha was perfomred by Suhashini Arunachalam and team. The team played good Tabala, Gattam, Violin(by a lady) with good singing by Suhashini Madam(music like ta da ri na na naaaa..., Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma etc). Shivarama Shetty uncle distributed momentos for the team.

Finally on day 5 07/09/2008 Sunday, we had Ganesha procession at evening 5:30 p.m. Bharath Singh uncle, Balanna uncle and others helped us to arrange the things at procession vehicle. In fact many of our mates did not even knew to tie ropes, luckily elders guided us to make arrangements. We had called "Nagari Kunitha" people from Mysore for cultural sounds. At the first sight when they arrived, they looked like successor's of Bandit Queen. These team performed the music very well and it was the attaraction for all, specially the guy having strange looks and long hairs played good. The other arrangements included burning of crackers ( china crackers really burnt good compared to Standard ones :-) ). Procession went well and it was taken through main streets of Sahakarnagar. There were some small electrical/generator issues and that were fixed in no time. Around 10:00 p.m. we burnt some big crackers and made way to Ganesha idol Visarjane(drown). Prasada was distributed and everyone left temple with sweet memories of Ganeshotsava 2008. Next day, legs were paining as it used to happen every year :-). "
